Oranges in a glass bowl with evening light
If it came to pass that, by divine decree, I could only shoot in one style, one lighting but I got to choose it, it would definitely be "Caravaggio". As in the Flemish painting known for his richly colored paintings lit by only a single candle.
It's romantic and dramatic: here a bowl of oranges to my mind suddenly look like they have a story to tell. Maybe that's just me, I dunno.
But strangely, I don't see a huge amount of photographs in this style. Probably because the conditions are hard to create with artificial lighting and in natural light, only last for moments. And here in Seattle, often aren't seen for months. So, while I'd love to shoot about everything this way, I suspect this is a once-in-a-blue-moon (or once-in-a-clear-evening-in-Seattle) kinda thing.
